Legacy North Foundation is an Omaha-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on creating opportunities that help individuals, families, entrepreneurs and communities build greater stability, self-sufficiency, ownership and lasting economic progress.
Our story
Legacy North Foundation was founded in 2022 on the belief that where someone begins should not determine how far they are able to go.
Our leaders bring together lived experience, professional expertise and longstanding community relationships. Each began as a teen mom facing significant challenges and went on to become homeowners, entrepreneurs, employers, corporate and community leaders, and advocates for others. Those experiences shape not only why Legacy North exists, but how we approach the work.
That lived experience is matched by years of leadership across business, banking and financial services, housing, real estate, economic and community development, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship and nonprofit service. Together, those experiences give Legacy North a grounded understanding of both the barriers people encounter and the opportunities that become possible when they know how to navigate them.
We believe the wealth gap is often reinforced by a knowledge gap. When people have access to the right information, understand how systems work and know what steps to take, they are better positioned to access capital, strengthen credit, purchase homes, grow businesses and create greater financial stability. Legacy North works to close that gap by making information practical and accessible, then connecting people to the relationships, resources and opportunities that can help them put that knowledge into action.
Our work continues to be shaped by the people and communities we serve. We listen to where people get stuck, what questions they are asking, what resources they trust and what stands between them and their goals. Those insights help shape our programming, partnerships and future initiatives so that the work remains relevant, practical and responsive.

What we believe
Legacy North Foundation believes entrepreneurship and homeownership are two of the most powerful paths to closing the wealth gap. We provide financial education, access to resources and hands-on guidance to build real pathways to ownership and financial freedom.
Adults across a wide range of ages and life stages, including people establishing or repairing credit, reducing debt, strengthening budgeting habits, preparing to purchase a home, or starting and growing a business. Programming is open and inclusive, and grounded in the experiences of people whose needs have often been overlooked.
Experienced leadership, trusted relationships built long before the foundation existed, and direct experience managing and reporting on more than $1.5 million in state and federal grant funding, while helping other community organizations strengthen their grant administration.
Individuals and families across the Omaha metro continue to face barriers that limit economic mobility, including limited access to trusted financial education, affordable capital, strong credit, homeownership pathways and professional networks.
Demand has exceeded our capacity. Our most recent financial literacy cohort graduated 30 participants with 100 percent attendance and maintained a waitlist of more than 120 additional applicants.
